Similar to ratchet straps, cam buckle straps consist of 3 parts; the strap, hook and tightening mechanism and would typically be used for securing down various industrial equipment that is at risk of movement during transport. Unlike ratchet straps however, and this is an important difference, cam buckle straps must be tightened by hand.

Despite not having the power of the ratchet to tighten or secure your load, a cam buckle strap offers a degree of flexibility. The cam buckle itself is nowhere near as bulky or heavy as traditional ratchets. Cam buckles are straightforward and largely just require you to pull the tail end of the strap through the buckle, with the spring loaded gripper preventing it slipping back.

The pressure applied will be largely relative to the strength of the operator, but with this is mind, you will rarely over tighten the strap, hence if you are worried about too much tension damaging your goods, perhaps a cam buckle strap is exactly what you need.
